The Destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D.
"And shall lay thee even with the ground"
The Eternal City
The legions of Rome
came and destroyed Jerusalem in 70 A.D. as Jesus had foretold. The
Hebrew city and Temple was destroyed, most of the people killed, and the
rest were scattered or taken to Rome as slaves.
41 - And when he was come near, he
beheld the city, and wept over it,
37 - O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, [thou]
that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee,
how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen
gathereth her chickens under [her] wings, and ye would not!
