The Disobedience of the Hebrews
"they mocked the messengers of God and despised His words"
2 Chronicles 36:16 The Hebrews disobeyed God continually, despised His Temple, mocked His messengers, and forsook His words until there was no remedy
2 Chronicles 36:14-16
14 - Moreover all the chief of the
priests, and the people, transgressed very much after all the
abominations of the heathen; and polluted the house of the LORD which he
had hallowed in Jerusalem.
15 - And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers,
rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people,
and on his dwelling place:
16 - But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and
misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his
people, till [there was] no remedy.
Isaiah 1:2-4
2 - Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O
earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up
children, and they have rebelled against me.
3 - The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib: [but]
Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.
4 - Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers,
children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have
provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.
